Sending A Link

Links to files and folders can be sent directly from Windows File Explorer via the Zee Drive context menu to your colleagues. Here's how to send a link:

1

From Windows File Explorer, right click on the file or folder you want to send a link to, expand the Zee Drive sub-menu then click the item "Send a link to this file/folder". In this example, I am sending a link to an Excel spreadsheet

2

The Choose Link Action dialog will pop-open with some options for you to customise your link before you send it:

  • Open in associated application - The default option for a file. When the link is clicked, the file will open in its associated application E.g. an Excel spreadsheet will open in the Excel application

  • Open for read only - This option applies to Excel spreadsheets only. When the link is clicked, Excel will open the document but for reading only

  • Highlight in Windows File Explorer - Instead of the document opening in its associated application, Windows File Explorer will pop-open and highlight the file in its folder

  • Open in web browser - The link to the file or folder will open in the user's default web browser. Useful for sending links to users outside of your organisation or to colleagues in your organisation that do not use Zee Drive

In this example I will select the "open in associated application" option. Click the Next button to create your link

3

Your link will now show. You can test the link out by clicking the blue link that is shown in the dialog. Click the Copy To Clipboard button if you want to paste the link in to a document. Or, click the Open Email button and a new email will pop open with your link in the body of the email. Click the X button in the top right of the dialog to close it when you are finished. To change your link, click the Go Back button and you can try a different selection from the previous step

If you clicked the Open Email button, a new Outlook email will pop-up with the link to your file or folder in the body of the email, ready to send:

If you chose to create a web link that opens in the browser, when clicking the link, the default browser (in the example below its Edge browser on Windows) will pop-up and open your document or folder:
