Slow Performance

Users may experience slow performance when interacting with Zee Drive network drives:
Searching via File Explorer
Browsing the network drive and opening folders
Opening and saving files
When creating a Zee Drive network drive, if you have included a space character in the server name, it can cause delays when accessing the network drive or opening the file. Some Windows applications do not work well when a UNC server name contains a space character.
To resolve this, modify any problematic network drives to remove the space character (or any other non-alphanumeric character) from the server name, publish the drive changes, then try accessing the network drive again to see if the issue persists.
When creating a Zee Drive network drive, if the server name you have assigned to the drive is the same as another network resource on the local network then users may experience delays when accessing the drive or opening files. E.g. if you have assigned the name THINKSCAPE for the server name of the network drive, but there is already a local file server on the network with the name THINKSCAPE, it may cause an issue.
To resolve, modify the network drive via the Zee Drive administration console, change the server name of the network drive then publish the drive mappings.
For some applications like PDF editors, the file will not be saved and uploaded to SharePoint until the document being edited is first closed. If you want your changes to be reflected in SharePoint and other user's Zee Drive mapped drives promptly, then save your changes, close the document, and reopen it. This will force an upload to SharePoint.
When searching a large directory structure via Windows File Explorer search edit box, this can take time as the directory structure must be downloaded if not already cached, and in the case of documents, the documents will be downloaded so that File Explorer can search within the documents.
If a folder contains a lot of images and the user has enabled thumbnail previews in File Explorer then it will cause File Explorer to download each of the images so it can generate the thumbnails. This can cause a delay. Whilst Zee Drive caches files, if there are many image files then they can be removed from the cache causing them to be downloaded again. To resolve, turn off thumbnail previews in File Explorer.
If the preview pane in Windows File Explorer is enabled it may interfere with the network drive performance. Try disabling the preview pane to see if it resolves the performance issue.
For faster performance, use Zee Drive's dedicated search feature which leverages SharePoint's search index .
