Set Up Drives For Sharing

Users from your organisation can share files and folders with each other directly from their Zee Drive network drives, and access files and folders shared with them, from their Zee Drive network drives. Sharing from a network drive and accessing shared files and folders from a network drive is a convenient and productive feature for your users to collaborate with their colleagues.

Before your users can share with Zee Drive, you will need to configure the necessary network drives to make this possible. Two drives are required; a OneDrive network drive and a Shared With Me network drive. The OneDrive network drive is connected to each users' own OneDrive for Business files, I.e. their my documents/their personal corporate files. The Shared With Me network drive automatically determines the files and folders shared with the user, and will organise the files and folders grouped by the user that shared the files with them.

In the above example, we can see the OneDrive network drive, O:. This drive will show the user's personal corporate files and folders, and the shared with me network drive S:. Several users have already shared files and folders with the user as evidenced by their names appearing in the user's S: drive

For a user oriented perspective of sharing a folder, see Share A File Or Folder from the user guide.

If your organisation has already configured a OneDrive network drive then you can skip the first section below and proceed with setting up the Shared With Me network drive.

To get started, open the Zee Drive administration console, click the action button and choose "Add or manage network drives". Now follow the steps below.

Add The OneDrive Network Drive

1

Click the action button and select "Create a network drive"

2

Enter the server name and share name for the network drive. You can use your organisation's name for the server name and OneDrive for the share name; but this is up to your preference as to what you name it. Choose a drive letter. Then click the Next button

3

Likely you will want this drive available to all users in the organisation so leave the default "Show network drive to everyone" unless you want to target it at specific groups. Click the Next button

4

On the connection page, from the drop down list choose the option "OneDrive for Business of the signed in user". This will connect the drive to each users' own OneDrive corporate files. It essentially turns the drive in to an equivalent of My Documents. Click the Create button

5

You'll be returned to the Manage Network Drives page with your new O: drive listed. Proceed on to the next section for setting up Shared With Me

Add The Shared With Me Network Drive

1

Click the action button and select "Create a network drive"

2

Enter the server name and share name for the network drive. You can use your organisation's name for the server name and SharedWithMe for the share name; but this is up to your preference as to what you name it. Choose a drive letter. Then click the Next button

3

Likely you will want this drive available to all users in the organisation so leave the default "Show network drive to everyone" unless you want to target it at specific groups. Click the Next button

4

On the connection page, from the drop down list choose the option "Shared with me". This will connect the drive to all the files and folders that are shared with the current user, grouped by the name of the user that shared the files. Click the Create button

5

You'll be returned to the Manage Network Drives page with your new S: drive listed. Click the Publish button to publish the changes

6

And then click the Publish Now button to confirm

7

The two new drives, O: and S: (or whichever drive letters you assigned them) will be published to the Zee Drive activation service. The new drives will soon appear in each users' Windows File Explorer. Users can now browse their corporate OneDrive files, share them, and access other users files and folders shared with them
